   The
print on the right suggests the classic beginning "It was a dark
and stormy night..... Together with an air conditioning unit that sounds
like crickets and Yael's lampshade painting, we created a cosy reading
area. Stephen Fisher borrowed the furniture from the CBC Props department
and made the bookshelf. Our idea was to create an intimate area within
the larger gallery which would provide a cultural context for our work
and a place to relax. The books were heroically brought with us on the
plane and supplemented by Peggy MacKinnon. Seen here, Phil Anisman, looks
        over the selection. |

Partial view of Yael Brotman's installation where life's intense moments read as the large, bright clasps on a double stranded necklace. |
